Emma Phelps, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year medical student at the Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa.

Taylor Ellis, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year medical student at Wake Forest School of Medicine and a proud North Carolina native. She graduated from Bunn High School, located in a small rural community northeast of Raleigh. Growing up, she witnessed the challenges many members of her community faced in accessing healthcare, inspiring her to pursue a career in medicine.

Nicole "Nikki" Kalani Apana, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year medical student at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in the PRIME-US program and a second-year MPP (Master of Public Policy) student at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Anna Harmeling a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Michigan Medical School. Originally from Boyne City, Michigan, a small town in northern Michigan, Anna spent most of her childhood on her grandparents’ two farms: one raising cattle and one growing Christmas trees. Her family has lived on the same road for over six generations, giving Anna incredible support and love throughout her life.

Jacqueline Cabral, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year MD/MPP (Master of Public Policy) student in the PRIME-LA program at the David Geffen School of Medicine and the UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) Luskin School of Public Affairs. She is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants and was raised in a single parent household. Growing up in an apartment complex where most of her neighbors were immigrants, Jacqueline witnessed how documentation status determined her community’s access to and experience of care, shaping her commitment to immigrant health and pursuit of family medicine.

Dan Xia, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is fourth-year medical student at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Originally from New Jersey, Dan studied global public health at the University of Virginia (UVA), where he developed an early passion for leading community health initiatives and working with diverse populations.

Afsha Hossain, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year medical student at the Medical College of Georgia. She graduated from Emory University with a degree in human health and a minor in nutrition science.

Clarence “Tre” Armstrong, III, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year medical student at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. A native of New Castle, Delaware, Tre grew up immersed in sports and played collegiate baseball at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), where he earned a degree in nutritional biochemistry and metabolism with a minor in sports medicine.

Jenna Norton, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year medical student at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine (UNM). Jenna's path to medicine was anything but direct. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in theatre arts in 2010, intending to pursue classic theatre and costume design, until her father passed away suddenly during college. Jenna finished college while working late nights as a bartender and at the family hardware store on weekends, an experience that redirected her toward a career in service.

Catherine Dunn, a 2026 Pisacano Scholar, is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where she is pursuing the Global Health Track with a concentration in medical education. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Science.
